Meet Report
Saturday morning opened up with chilly weather and a few preliminary events. Right from the start we had several of the Northern sprinters make their way into the finals. Thatcher Owen pushed his way to a personal best in the first round of the 3200 with a time of 10:49. Many others followed behind him going into the afternoon when it finally warmed up. In the finals for sprints Nick Trembly (11.79), Aziah Pless (27.59/62.78), and DJ Workcuff (22.20) who placed 4th in the 100, 2nd in the 200, and 2nd in High Jump. Great job DJ! In the 300 Hurdles Caitlin Bowman placed 5th with a personal best of 50.53 and also placing 5th in High Jump.
We had four stand out in the distance events who were Rachel Zellman in the 1600 (5:42) in which she placed 6th, Megan Delamer with a 5:51, Jessica Raney in the 800 (2:40) and Scott Carpenter with a 2:00 in which he placed 3rd. In the field Kayla Rexroth had a personal best of 27'10".75 in the Triple Jump, and Chandler Jackson in the Shot Put with 35'4". Taylor Wagner placed 4th overall in the Shot Put and Discus events.
Other accomplishments include the girls placing 4th in the 4x800 and 5th in the 4x200, and the boys placing 7th in the 4x800.
Overall the meet went well and it was great to see improvement in several areas as well as the athletes who pushed themselves to achieve a new personal best. At the end the girls team had placed 12th overall and the boys placed 6th. Though these weren't our best finishes we know where we need to work harder and better prepare for our upcoming championship part of the season. We would like to thank the parents who were there to help cheer on our athletes and Kenny Chesney (Mr. Pate) for making lunch for the Coaches.
